Receive a Business Tax Credit While Providing Help and Creating Hope.The state of Mississippi offers a tax credit for donations made to an eligible Qualified Charitable Organization. Your donation to Catholic Charities can be a DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR TAX CREDIT up to 50% of your Mississippi state tax liability.IT’S AS EASY AS 1, 2, 3!

Step One:
Complete the for tax credit allocation. Within 30 days of receipt, MSDOR shall send notification of allocation.MSDOR application

Step Two:
Make a donation to Catholic Charities to receive a tax credit up to 50% of your Mississippi state tax liability and help Catholic Charities to provide help and create hope for all of God’s children. Make a donation
Step Three:
Send verification of the contribution to the MSDOR. Verification must be received within 60 days of receipt of notification of allocation.

FAQs

DO I MAIL MY MSDOR APPLICATION BEFORE OR AFTER I MAKE A DONATION?

Either. If you mail your application first, you will receive notification of approval within 30 days and must make your donation within 60 days of receiving approval.

If you make your donation and send in your Catholic Charities receipt with the application, you will receive notification of approval within 30 days.

In either case, after you receive your Catholic Charities receipt for your donation, mail or email your receipt and your application to MSDOR.

WHAT IF I DO NOT OWE MISSISSIPPI STATE TAXES

Charitable Tax Credit dollars may be carried forward for up to five years, reducing future tax liability.

WHAT IS THE PERIOD FOR MAKING CONTRIBUTIONS?
Individuals

The Mississippi Department of Revenue will allocate credits within a calendar year. The tax credits authorized under the Children’s Promise Act are limited to $3,000,000 per calendar year. The Children’s Promise Act allows for allocations each calendar year beginning January 1, 2019. The Mississippi Department of Revenue shall not allocate any credits after January 1, 2025.

Businesses

The Mississippi Department of Revenue will allocate credits within a calendar year. The tax credits authorized under the Children’s Promise Act are limited to $5,000,000 per calendar year. The Children’s Promise Act allows for allocations each calendar year beginning January 1, 2019. The Mississippi Department of Revenue shall not allocate any credits after January 1, 2025.

DO I GET A DEDUCTION AND A TAX CREDIT FOR DONATIONS TO AN ELIGIBLE CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION?

You may only claim a tax credit for your charitable contribution on your Mississippi state tax return if the organization you donated to is considered an eligible Qualified Charitable Organization. You cannot claim both a deduction and a credit for the same charitable contribution on your Mississippi tax return.
