Catholic Charities, Inc.-
Vardaman Office

Nestled in the heart of Vardaman, known as the "Sweet Potato Capital of the World" in northeast Mississippi, the Vardaman Office stands as a beacon of support and compassion. At the core of its initiatives is the After-School Tutoring program, extending a helping hand to children from kindergarten to third grade and their parents throughout the academic year. For first to third-grade students, a focus on reading fluency becomes a cornerstone, recognizing its pivotal role in enhancing comprehension rates. Meanwhile, kindergarteners receive specialized attention to foster letter naming and letter-sound recognition, laying the foundation for early reading success.

Beyond education, the center extends a lifeline to low-income families facing economic hardships. When funds permit, emergency assistance is provided, offering relief for essential needs such as utilities, rents, and food. In every service rendered, the Vardaman Office is a living embodiment of the vision to "be a visible sign of Christ’s love." This welcoming space transcends barriers of race, religion, or political affiliation, fostering an environment where all individuals are treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Through these diverse initiatives, the center fulfills its mission as a ministry of presence, radiating the transformative power of compassion and understanding.
