Flood Relief: Mississippi

As the sun set on August 23rd, 2022, central Mississippi was thrust into a period of unprecedented flooding, a distressing event that persists into the present day, August 29th. The aftermath has been a harrowing experience for thousands of individuals who find themselves abruptly displaced from their homes. Remarkably, this crisis strikes with a bitter déjà vu, as some families had only recently completed the arduous journey of recovering from the floods that plagued the region in 2020.

In the wake of this recent deluge, a pressing need for assistance has emerged. The call for support is a beacon to those grappling with displacement and loss. If you or someone you know has been directly affected by the floods in the Central Mississippi area, particularly in Hinds, Madison, and Rankin Counties, resulting from the river's crest, immediate help is available. Please reach out to 601-960-8490 for crucial assistance.

In times of such crises, the resilience of a community shines through the collective efforts of those willing to extend a helping hand. Monetary contributions can make a significant impact, and for those who wish to contribute in-kind donations, the coordination is facilitated through Michael Thomas atmichael.thomas@ccjackson.orgor Rachel Travis atrachel.travis@ccjackson.org.

The spirit of solidarity is a powerful force in rebuilding lives and communities. In the face of this prolonged flooding, every act of kindness, every donation, becomes a vital step towards providing solace and support to those navigating the tumultuous waters of displacement and recovery. Together, we can exemplify the strength of community and offer a lifeline to those most in need.
